FUFA sets strict laws concerning youth players

first_imgMENGO – With the StarTimes Uganda Premier league slated to start on Thursday, August 29th, the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has come out and clarified on the rules concerning players under the age of 21.In a document dated August 26th, FUFA has come out and stated that the registration of players in both the Uganda Premier League (UPL) and Big League, shall be managed as stipulated in the FUFA Competitions Rules (FCR).According to the rules, each team will be restricted to register a maximum of 32 players throughout the season.Among the 32, each club is required to register a minimum of 7 players under the age of 21, 4 of which must have participated in the FUFA Juniors League. The 7 U21 players are required to be registered before the season starts.For the four above mentioned players, they are required to play a minimum of 450 minutes in the season.The federation also advised that no club will be allowed to loan out more than 7 players in the season.Each side is also not allowed to loan out more than four of their junior players.The list of rules in the document suggests that a particular club shall not be allowed to register more than 21 open age players for a season. The open age players are those that start the season while over the age of 21.After the release of the above rules, it is still not known whether any of the teams in both the UPL and Big League have fulfilled the guidelines.The StarTimes Uganda Premier League starts on Thursday afternoon with Kyetume FC hosting SC Villa at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.Comments Tags: Big LeagueFUFAStarTimes Uganda Premier Leaguelast_img read more
