first_imgIn December 2013, the Polish company Sempertrans Belchatów ordered a steel cord conveyor belt press line from Siempelkamp for the production of belts with a width of up to 2,700 mm. Siempelkamp states that in addition to its many years of experience in plants for the rubber industry, the customer was convinced by the individually controlled steel cord tension distribution system. This innovative concept allows increased production safety and plant availability. Sempertrans Belchatów will be the first customer in central Europe operating the system with direct tensioning drives in the creel.Siempelkamp’s electromotive individually controlled tensioning system located directly in the creel, including measuring and control functions, allows 100% control over the actual steel cord tension distribution. Exact quality reporting allows the plant operator to optimise production and therefore, increase quality. The system includes a roller comb that replaces the fixed finger comb used in previous concepts which reduces the abrasive wear on the galvanised steel cables. Furthermore, compared to the traditional principle, the roller comb helps to guide the steel cables to the subsequent process and due to the rolling (roller) design the tension distribution will be deflected as little as possible.With the new Siempelkamp line – including a 2,700 x 18,480 mm multi-piston press with optimised pressure distribution – Sempertrans Belchatów is expanding its production of steel cord conveyor belts to meet increasing demand. This investment will furthermore expand the strong technological position of the company in the area of high-quality conveyor belts. The subsidiary of the Semperit Group is Poland’s most important manufacturer of conveyor belts and one of the largest in Europe. The plant specialises in the manufacture of heavy-duty steel cord conveyor belts as well as textile conveyor belts.
