High Court stays polls to Nagarkurnool municipality

first_imgNagarkurnool: The High Court had issued stay orders for halting the municipal elections for Nagarkurnool municipality on Thursday.According to sources, Samuel David Raj, a resident of Nagarkurnool, had earlier filed a petition in the High Court alleging that Nagarkurnool municipal authorities have not divided the wards as per GO No 72 and they have taken up the division hurriedly and erroneously. In view of the above arguments, the High Court had directed the district administration of Nagarkurnool to first correct the errors in the division of wards and after confirming that everything was done as per the rules, and then submit a report to the court and then go for the polls. In some wards, there are more voters and in some very less voters. We have had submitted all the evidences to the court and got the stay for the municipal elections,” said Samuel David Raj, a resident of Nagarkurnool. The High Court after verifying and satisfied with the petitioner’s allegations had issued stay orders and directed the municipal authorities to rectify the division process and then only conduct the elections.last_img
